BONNER COUNTY FOOD BANK DRIVE
June 5th marked the date of
when several of the local community pulled together to work
at grocery stores in the Sandpoint and Ponderay area.
This year, Sandpoint Title was able to assist the Selkirk
Association of Realtors and several of our local realtors to
work together to gather an unprecedented amount of food,
diapers and supplies for the food bank. It took
volunteers working at Yokes, Safeway and Wal-Mart all day,
in addition to needing drivers to pick up the food and
supplies at each location throughout the day and unload it
all at the food bank. The generosity of the local
community in their time and donations will be appreciated in
these economic times.
KINDERHAVEN
Kinderhaven is a home for abused and neglected children located in Sandpoint. We accept children of both sexes from birth to 12 years old and teen girls from 13 to 18. Barbara Merritt,
who retired last year from Sandpoint Title, continues to be affiliated with this wonderful project
and has been for a several years. In an attempt
to recruit new volunteers, a couple more of the Sandpoint
Title employees have recently signed up to volunteer as
needed in this endeavor. Kinderhaven is a 5013C corporation and
they depend primarily on donations from the public and the annual Festival of Trees Auction for operating expenses.
Your help is needed too. Please feel free to contact
Barbara Merritt at 290-1323 to see how you can help!
RELAY FOR LIFE
The 2009 Relay
for Life was held at the Bonner County Fair Grounds on June 12th
and 13th. The phrase for this years' event was
‘CANCER IS NOT A GAME’
and that exactly how our community treated the event.
Sandpoint Title, in conjunction with Mountain West Bank, joined
forces to help raise thousands of dollars for the event.
In addition, our team enjoyed our Pirates of the Caribbean booth
and managed to keep team members on the track throughout the
night. Thanks to Dan and Verna White for taking the
graveyard shift. Thanks to Mountain West Bank for
spearheading the team. It was truly exciting to see the
community joining forces to raise money for this wonderful
cause. If you haven't been a part of a luminary ceremony,
don't miss this event in 2010.
